MAN B&W Engine Model No 6L23/30H crankshaft was reported damaged by a shipping company based in Dubai. Their Vessel was approaching Sikka Port, India, and transit time was less than 18 hours, from Sikka Port the vessel was to cross Suez Canal.

In Situ Crankshaft Grinding of MAN B&W Engine Model No 6L23/30H
As a protocol the crankpin was subject to crack detection by MPI Method, Hardness Test and Visual Inspection, all technical parameters were observed within limits. The In Situ grinding of the damaged crankpin number #04 was undertaken with our specially designed equipment. The crankpin diameter was reduced by 1.00 mm and was maintained at 184.00 mm with a tolerance of only 0.03 mm.
