It is observed that crank pin of crankshaft is a common failure in case of diesel engines and reciprocating equipment. In olden times the common practice was to disassemble the engine, remove the crankshaft from the entablature, pack it properly and send to the workshop for crankshaft grinding and crankshaft polishing.

This process of crankshaft repair was possible only in the countries where bench type crankshaft grinding machine are installed. RA Power Solutions is in the business of undertaking crankshaft grinding and polishing for the last forty years. Initially the service of crankshaft repair was provided through bench type crankshaft grinding machines imported from Italy.These machines were installed in a workshop and client had no option but to send it there.The crankshafts were even air freighted from various countries like Qatar, Maldives, Sri lanka, bangladesh, South America etc. for repairs.

Two decades back, onsite crankshaft grinding equipment has been introduced by RA Power Solutions by which crankshaft, crank pin and main journal can be repaired having diameter ranging from 35 mm to 700 mm. The removal of crankshaft from the entablature and sending it to the designated workshop is now outdated and is wastage of time and money

RA Power Solutions have sold more than 70 crankshaft grinding equipments all over the world. Our clients also include the engine repair workshops who undertake grinding and polishing of small crankshafts as their routine work.

With the introduction of onsite crankshaft grinding and polishing equipment, machining and polishing of crankshaft and crank pin is undertaken onsite strictly as per the OEM’s tolerances. All parameters are maintained after grinding and polishing generally as following:

I) Straightness of shaft to the shaft axis
II) Surface finish far better than 0.2 RA value
III) Maintenance of parallelism, concentricity and roundness within 0.02 mm
