We have executed recently onsite repair of the crankshaft of Daihatsu 6DLB-19 at Mundra Port, Gujarat, India.

TEAM OF OUR TECHNICIANS WAS DEPUTED AND FOLLOWING WERE THE MAIN OBSERVATIONS:-

  • The crank pin no. 5 bearing was badly seized, was removed and the crank pin was thoroughly cleaned.
  • Crankpin no. 5 was subject to dimensional inspection for taper and ovality.
  • The ovality of 0.40 mm was observed which is considered to be very much on the higher side considering the standard diameter of 145.00 mm

 Crankpin no. 5 was checked for crack detection by MPI equipment by high intensity magna flux torch, no cracks were observed that was a great relief for the technicians as the bearing was badly seized.

Hardness was checked of the crank pin with portable hardness tester and was observed within limits.

SUCCESSFUL REPAIR OF CRANKPIN NO.5 OF DAIHATSU 6DLB-19:-

Due to shortage of time at Mundra Port, Gujarat, India. The job of grinding of crankpin no.5 was executed while sailing of the vessel and diameter was reduced by 1.00 mm and maintained to the size 144.00 mm with ovality of only 0.02 mm.
