Compressors are used in industries like oil and natural gas, chemical, engineering companies and for various applications worldwide. In case of compressor, the crankshaft plays a very important role in normal operation of the compressor. In fact, it is generally called that the crankshaft is “the heart of compressor”. Few engineers are aware that the crankshaft of the high capacity compressor is the most expensive part and it is obvious that the crankshaft of compressors should be periodically inspected and repaired if required.

RA POWER SOLUTIONS EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCE IN REPAIR OF COMPRESSOR CRANKSHAFT:-

RA Power Solutions undertakes polishing and grinding of the crankshaft of medium and high capacity compressors.

Gone are the days when it was required to remove the crankshaft from the compressor casing.With the introduction of the latest technology, now it is possible to undertake crankshaft repair of compressor on site by polishing and grinding.

We regularly extend services for repair of crankshaft of all reputed manufacturer of compressor like Atlas Copco, Linde, Halberg, Ariel, Cummins, Kirloskar, Samson, Porter-Cable, Stanley Bostitch, Campbell Hausfeld, DeWalt, Makita, Senco, ANEST IWATA, Gardner Denver, Graham Sulzer, Hitachi, Rolair Systems, Brehob, Lufkin, Zebra , Ingersoll Rand  etc.

INSPECTION OF CRANKSHAFT OF COMPRESSOR:-

In case of any problem reported from the site in the crankshaft, we depute our technician to the site with necessary calibrated instruments.

FOLLOWING STEPS ARE TAKEN FOR CONDUCTING THE INSPECTION OF CRANKSHAFT ONSITE:-

Compressor crankshaft inspection

• Dimensional inspection of diameter of crankpin and main journal for taper and ovality.
• Visual inspection of lubricating oil hole, radius fillet on both sides and counter weight mounting bolts is undertaken.
• It is important to check the cracks on the crank pin or main journal of the compressor crankshaft in case of an accident. This is done by MPI method with high intensity magnaflux torch by qualified technicians.
• Hardness check of crack pin and main journal of compressor crankshaft.
• Deflection and run out of main journals to check the straightness of the crankshaft or loss of alignment.

FORTY ONE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN POLISHING, GRINDING AND REPAIR OF COMPRESSOR CRANKSHAFTS:-

After initial inspection as mentioned above, the corrective action is planned in consultation with our experienced senior engineers.

The polishing or grinding of crankpin and main journal is undertaken by a portable onsite crankshaft grinding machine. The machine is capable and is designed to undertake the polishing of crankpin and main journal of compressor crankshaft within 0.20 Ra value and maintaining the tolerances in terms of taper and ovality within 0.02 mm.

REPAIR OF COMPRESSOR CRANKSHAFT WITHOUT DISMANTLING AND IN LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE:-

The repair of compressor crankshafts undertaken by us is done by using our own designed, developed and manufactured on site crankshaft grinding machine.

We have generally observed that the availability of space in the crankcase of compressor is a big constraint in the fitment of machine. The crankshaft grinding machine as per the procedure has to be placed on a crank pin diameter of the compressor crankshaft for grinding purpose.

Since the machine is manufactured by us, we undertake in house modification in the crankshaft polishing and grinding machine to enable it to be fitted on the crank pin or main journal of the crankshaft.

Thus the repairs are always successful and never impossible.
