The machine is manufactured in two parts and sits on the damaged crankpin, which requires grinding or polishing.

In the case of Caterpillar, the window size is very small; we have designed our machines to fit on the crankpin through the inspection window. We undertake grinding of crankshaft of all high-RPM diesel engines like a caterpillar, Cummins, Volvo, Deutz, etc.

We have recently undertaken onsite crankshaft repair on board a vessel of Caterpillar engine model 3416B.

As can be seen from the above technical details, the crankpin of Caterpillar engine model 3416B has a crankpin diameter of 135 mm and a crankpin bearing width of only 57 mm, which is very small. Our machine is designed and manufactured to grind all crankshafts that have small crankpin widths. In fact, no other company in Europe has the crankshaft grinding machine to work on small diameter and crankpin bearing width.

The job of crankshaft repair was undertaken recently in Dubai by our technicians using a specially designed compact crankshaft grinding machine. The three crankpin diameters have been undersized to the first step size, as recommended in the manual of the Caterpillar engine manufacturer.

All the tolerances have been maintained within the limits. The engine was commissioned in the presence of our engineers to perform satisfactorily. 

Ours is the only company in the world that can undertake the in-place grinding of high RPM engine crankshafts like Daihatsu, Yanmar, MAN B&W, Mirrlees Blackstone, Ruston, Allen, Caterpillar, SKL, Pielstick, Cummins, Deutz, Volvo, etc. We can also undertake grinding while sailing the vessel.
