The damaged crankpin was inspected for dimensions. This crankpin was already undersized by 1.0mm.
The minimum & maximum readings were observed as following:
- Minimum diameter of crank pin 348.61 mm & a maximum diameter of crankpin observed as 349.00 mm.
- The thrust bearing diameter dimensions reading were observed as following:
- Minimum diameter observed: 349.46 mm
- Maximum diameter observed: 350.00 mm
- All other parameters like hardness, crack detection, deflection, etc were checked and found within limits.
- The localized damage, and deep line marks were observed on the crank pin diameter and thrust bearing diameter as well.

Action taken by RA Power Solutions
- The grinding of crankpin no 1 was undertaken and the final dimension was maintained between 346.98 mm to 347.00 mm. Thus maintaining the ovality of 0.02 mm, this size is 3.0 mm undersized.
- The thrust bearing diameter grinding was undertaken and the final diameter was maintained as 349.16 to 349.18 mm This is 0.80 mm undersize as per the manufacturer's recommendation.
